Preliminary Ecological Appraisal for planning applications

A Preliminary Ecological Appraisal (PEA) is often the first ecological step for a development proposal. It brings together a desk study and habitat walkover to identify potential ecological constraints and opportunities. We provide proportionate recommendations to help clients plan surveys, design mitigation and progress a planning application.

What to consider

A PEA is a preliminary assessment, not a guarantee that no further ecology work will be needed. Early appraisal helps avoid seasonal survey delays.

Ecology services across West Sussex and surrounding areas

Leith Ecology works with homeowners, architects, planning consultants, landowners and developers in Billingshurst, Horsham, Pulborough, Chichester, Crawley and neighbouring areas of Sussex, Surrey and Hampshire. Work is undertaken by arrangement at the project site, not at a public customer-facing office.

Send us your site location, a brief description of the proposal and any planning comments. We will advise on the next appropriate ecological step.
